The Purpose of The Holy Spirit ~

‘And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

~ Jesus, John 14:16-17

Before Jesus ascended, He made a promise to His disciples now turned apostles, that He would send The Comforter, known to those who have accepted Jesus Christ, as being the person of the Godhead, The Holy Spirit.

‘The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.’

~ 1 Corinthians 2:11

The Holy Spirit is a Person of the Godhead. He being the One, Who would continue God’s intended earthly mission until the Plan of God was fully accomplished; by reaching the end of the days given for all the ages of mankind to come into its complete fullness, also known as being the time of the Harvest of Souls due to happen at the ‘End of the Age’ of mankind’s history.

The Holy Spirit remains all throughout this time on earth known as ‘The Latter Days of the Age of Grace’, seeing to it that God’s seed ‘pregnant with potential’ planted in us who have believed His message given through God the Son, has been given every opportunity to make it to full term as we allow for Him to guide us in our way, as we continue to seek His counsel and then follow the Way set before us that will lead us into The Father’s Presence.

The Holy Spirit is the Presence of Immanuel, ‘God with us’, living in and with His people, chosen by The Father’s Grace. The Holy Spirit’s purpose being to quicken us (make us alive) in Christ, in order to bring us into full maturity. He is our Comforter and Counselor, overseeing us until we reach our perfected or completed state, of being  made in the likeness of Christ, until we have the Mind of Christ.

Jesus Himself, being the King of the Kingdom of Heaven Who walked within our midst upon this earth in the fullness of the time for Him to come; His Divine Nature still within Him in Heaven while He in-dwelt fully a human nature body, and is now, in His glorified omnipresence  ascended embodying His human flesh , as His resurrection allows Him to be able to transcend all dimensions. And He promised to send us the Person of The Holy Spirit, to empower us with power from on high, to be able to become like Christ, teaching us Himself, all things we need to know and understand that pertain to living a life based upon The Father’s values, which is called godliness or godly living.

It is the Holy Spirit that gives us the ability to receive the message of Christ,  by His coming upon us, it is The Holy Spirit Who persuades us to accept Christ and His message. This is what the Apostle Paul means when he says;

For by grace (χάριτί-chariti of God) you have been saved through faith (trust-confidence in God); and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by works (érgon-self accomplishments), so that no one can boast (trust in self-confidence of accomplishments-deeds).

~ Ephesians 2:9

We have nothing to do with this process, our part is to not harden our heart in the day we hear God speaking to us and take Him at His Word. We can willfully refuse Him, for He gave to mankind sovereign freewill.

The key is to rest in God’s accomplishment’s and to walk in being empowered by The Holy Spirit to do The Father’s Will. We can only do this when we understand-are given spiritual insight into Jesus or Yahshua, and see Him for Who He really is. Jesus is hated and misunderstood because He is not of this dimension, nor did He come from this dimension. Our power comes from living with Him dimension-ally as He said we had to do, and the only way to do this is to believe He is Who He says He is and is able to do what He is doing and has done and will continue to do. He alone has this power.

Eternity is not futuristic folks, it is happening right now dimensionally. It’s just that dimensions are not connecting, they are crossing and this is why GOD is invisible to our earthly dimensional eyes, the physical earthly dimension is not the solid realm, it’s the vaporous realm.

The Spirit of GOD is solid and can move through this earthly vaporous realm.

This is why GOD is omnipresent, omnscient, omnipotent and able to do what He does.

We have gotten things turned around.

When we receive Jesus into our inner man through faith, which is trusting God’s Word is True, God’s seed-potential to know Him, planted within every human soul’s conscience, is activated in us through a regenerated relationship brought about by His Spirit, and now the seed of Christ, being made alive by The Holy Spirit dwelling in us, will grow our inner man into becoming fully realized if we continue to walk in the same way God used these divine approaches when creating the heavens and the earth.

God’s pattern was established once and for all, and evidence of His existence can be clearly seen when viewing the universe from a God awareness reality.

The Holy Spirit quickens us…Quickening is actually a pregnancy term that refers to the first feelings of life of the fetus in the mother’s womb during the second trimester. It’s the sign that the seed God planted in us in the first trimester, has processed into the soil of our spirit and soul, showing outwardly in our behavior the produce of having the Holy Spirit living in us, once we have been tilled and opened to God in our life, and His Life is taking place inside the dark womb, the potential void, in us by His Holy Spirit.

Invisible to the outward world, yet Alive and Active in all dimensions.

‘Gardens are a form of autobiography.’

~ Sydney Eddison, Horticulture magazine, 1993

‘As a gardener, I’m among those who believe that much of the evidence of God’s existence has been planted.’

 ~ Robert Brault

Jesus said to us, that unless a seed falls into the ground and dies (our old earthly seeds of reproducing after our kind, also known as the ways of our earthly fathers), there can be no new life that comes from it, (the ground becomes hardened and unable to receive new seed, God Seed).

Jesus being that seed sower, scattering His God seed to fall into the ground, it sprouts through His physical death, now new life is able to spring up from under the soil through His resurrection, and this seed is in every believer who has accepted Jesus for being Who He said He is, as the soil softens to receive what He gave to mankind, His life. It is His seed which reproduces after its own kind, God Seed. Christ’s seed is made alive through The Holy Spirit’s quickening, the evidence of life taking place in a believer’s newly found life in Christ.

The Holy Spirit is the life giving source of power in those of us who believe that God can raise the dead to life again. And this is the way seeds sprout in our earthly gardens. They lose their outer shell in death, to release the life within.

Christ’s life is taking place and growing within the believer. God’s Seed is growing and maturing in us, and His Spirit begins to train our vine to grow upon God’s structure. Discipline is what trains our vine to grow straight to receive more light, so as to produce the most abundant fruit as our gift to God, our lives.

The Holy Spirit as a person, has a most important purpose in our lives. It is important for us to understand this because it makes all the difference in how we live for God in all honesty.

When we try to live as God’s sprouted seed in our way, as a growing vine, living by our own efforts to control our vine, and not letting The Gardener overseeing our souls to do the tending, we become an unruly or a wild vine, that grows its tentacles, tendrils all over the place. We become a wild ‘child’, unable to be trained. We are like weeds, thorns and briars when we are being unteachable, untrainable, lacking in self control, moving about all over the place. This is what we are doing in not allowing God to work His purpose for creating us in our lives…His purpose in building the soil to grow His seeds is to grow us into becoming His children who continue to reproduce life over and over again by living God’s values founded upon His structure…

Structure without value and value without structure lead to the same outcome; fruitlessness. We must have both in order to be fruitful and multiply.

‘In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there. To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe. I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels.’

~ Dodinsky

God is a Builder and a Planter. According to ancient Jewish wisdom given through Talmudic tradition passed down throughout the ages of mankind’s history, and unlike the contemporary view of Judaic traditions so often refered to in this modern day, God first fabricated (built) a potential universe (Genesis 1). At the end of this stage, nothing physical existed yet, only a void, that was pregnant with potential. The soil now prepared was ready for planting.

And it says, that God then drew forth from powerful and potent emptiness created by Him, the heavens and earth (the structure), all material existence (fruit realized). He planted His seeds of potential to grow (be realized) within this structure (soil) He built.

The reasons I find this wild child attitude happens with alot of people regarding our view of God, is from living this way for many years in my own life as a wild ‘seed’ and God graciously revealed this to me about myself, slowly but surely… I did not grow up having a right idea about God, and in time, what was revealed to me about my ideas of God, was that the structure that my life was built upon, was an old, shaky and faulty one that could not possibly continue to support my vine, my life as I grew. Eventually coming to understand that a wild child becomes a wild adult.

‘How fair is a garden amid the trials and passions of existence.’

~ Benjamin Disraeli

The trials and tribulations of my life, have been the work of The Holy Spirit, Who loves me unconditionally, Who does whatever it takes to make my vine grow stronger in order to reach its full potential which is to become fruit bearing.

The Holy Spirit knows when it is the right time to tie and train my growing tendrils to a strong and supportive structure (trellis) knowing what is strong enough to support the weight of the vine’s growing branches. Divine Order, God established the laws of nature to be able to produce an abundance of fruit, and God desires to harvest the same from my life and yours.

This means pruning in moments, and I have most definitely been pruned in my life more than once, in fact, I have been through a process known to gardener’s as a hard pruning, a hard cutting back including a deep root pruning to remove diseased roots, in order to preserve the life of the plant.

Doing this allows the plant to be healthy, removing from it that which saps life in order for it to continue to live. Pruning causes a plant to redirect its energy to produce thicker and stronger branches, which will support the weight of the fruit it is bearing as it goes through the flushing process, all this is going on while the solid structure continues to support the tender vine that has now grown thicker stronger branches. The wild vine and wild fruit is now producing an excellent harvest through being trained and brought under productive self-control.

Self control is power contained, not lost.

Are you seeing evidence of the Holy Spirit actively working in your life?

What are the signs to look for?

Fruit. The fruit of The Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

~ Galatians 5:22

Note that the ‘S’ in Spirit is capitalized. This means that The Holy Spirit, is doing the fruit producing and bearing in our lives, it isn’t coming from our own doing. The Holy Spirit is doing the quickening in our now rooted in Christ seeds that have sprouted and are growing into a full grown plant from God’s Seed. It takes God to grow a God Seed. We are made in the likeness of God, however, we are not God. And not being God, means we cannot make and produce God Seed. We make seeds after our own likeness, humankind seeds.

We really have forgotten this idea in these times in all honesty.

The Holy Spirit is doing His gardening in us who have yielded to Him, with the very intention through this process of growing us into full term, our completion, bearing mature ripened fruit, which is to come into the fullness of Christ.

I love how God uses such practical and easy to understand ideas we can all relate to as children of all ages; teaching us His methods He uses for creating, by giving us Nature, whose laws reveal the Law Maker and Law Enforcer. We are learning while we are practicing it!! Pedagogy.

So easy, even a child can understand it while practicing it, and I genuinely believe this was the original way God meant for us to be taught; by pedagogy. By being living examples, like Jesus, Who came to show us how by living alongside us for a season…

What kind of fruit are you serving to those whom you love and to strangers who cross your dailly path?

Have you ever tried your hand at gardening? Or even making something with your hands whether with wood, metal, glass, plastic? You know, just building something, creating ‘stuff’ with your very own hands, your spirit, soul and heart fully into it, experiencing the growing excitement as you see it taking form, and the satisfaction you’ve felt when your project is fully finished? Now, what would you do if the object you have lovingly created turned around and jumped off the table and ran away, saying to you its Creator, ‘Who are You to me?! I’ll take it from here, I don’t need you any more…You’re not the Boss of me…’

Yet we tend to do this very thing with God. I am speaking here as we who have faith that there is a personal God. I’ve noticed more and more as I have engaged in conversations with others throughout the years, that we really tend to have our ideas about God structured-formed by the ideas impressed upon us from our most formative years and we grew into our ideas based upon this structure. We are copies of the patterns impressed upon us during our most impressionable years. We all have been given sovereign freewill, to choose for our self which way we will go in our life, which path we will follow.

The path with God, or the path without God, no matter how diverse our personalities are, we all make one choice or another.

We are all born without prejudice, no matter what color our skin…our potential to choose to love God or not to love God is yet to be realized…

All of us are bearing the realized evidence of which seed was and is now, the most tended to in our lives.

The fruit reveals the seed producing after its kind…the proof is in the pudding. Evidence.

It takes an honest assessment, an open heart to assess the structure we have spent most of our life building our values upon. We are able to see what kind of fruit we are producing.

Are you satisfied with what the yield of your harvest is producing?

What kind of fruit are we producing that is showing up as the evidence of the kind of seed that is growing within us? Are we producing and reproducing life giving God seed or Godless seeds of destruction, that leads to the cessation of life bearing seeds?

Weed seeds or God seeds?

Jesus is speaking to us in this scripture;

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

~ Matthew 7:16-20

What are we able to recognize about our self by the fruit we are bearing in our lives?

Is our fruit, man made or God created?

The Holy Spirit is a person, the Comforter and Counselor of our life, the One Who seals us until the day of our redemption, if we are willing to be made and kept alive by Him in our spirit.

It is by our willingness to listen, with open heart (believing) following through with His guidance, allowing Him to do His perfect work in us, that we will see the evidence of God being active and participating in our lives.

As we give the Holy Spirit the right of way to govern us in spirit by receiving into our self, His supply of structure and values, He cultivating our tender shoots, lovingly training them and pruning them to grow to our most Highest potential being realized. And what is that?

To be filled with the fullness of God, as God originally intended.

“For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said:

Today, if you will hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

~ Hebrews 3:14-15

May our hardheartedness that so easily doubts in the existence and goodness of our Creator, be softened through the persuasion of the Holy Spirit, Who shines the Light of His Presence into our souls once unaware and may our hearts be open to being tilled and softened, to receive Him in, so we can return to enjoying a daily active and living relationship God as the True Husbandman of our soul’s garden.  His Seed planted in us, sprouting as we make our first discovery of Him, has the ability to change our spirit in heart, mind and soul to awaken to God, and will only continue to grow as we continue to seek His face daily in our lives.

Yielding to this process allows His intended seed to sprout to life, made alive by His in dwelling Holy Spirit, who will continue to bring us into maturity-fullness, producing the most excellent sweet tasting and fragrant fruit of Christ in our lives. The more we yield to the The Holy Spirit, the more abundant harvest will be produced. Learning to grow in patience through the process, until we enter fully into His Kingdom to receive our resurrected body, our final glorification of our process.

Give your self the opportunity by setting some time aside today, by giving some thought in finding out what your own personal view and perspective of life philosophy is really based upon.

Were you born with your current thoughts about God? This takes separating yourself apart from what you’ve heard and been influenced by all your life by others. This includes but is not limited to the movies you’ve watched, books you’ve read, music you’ve listened to. While very subtle, these things do have a way of shaping the way we think, and act, as we ‘fertilize’ our souls with their message.

What structure is really the one holding up your philosophy of life? Where did it come from, who was influential in guiding and counseling your building of your current perspective?

How is it working in allowing you to realize your God given value and purpose?

Is it a man made-earthly made one or have you cleared your soul’s space in the soil of your heart and mind, to consider allowing God’s Seed, dormant seeds of potential planted in your soul to grow by letting Him in to do just that?

By making some honest and genuine effort to look into the kind of fruit we are producing in our life, being willing to evaluate and discern the evidence of the type of soil and seeds we are growing in, we will determine the nature of our soul’s garden, and therefore we will be able to tell if our potential is being realized, by the evidence of God’s Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God…

Whose tending to your soul’s garden?

We can experience an abundant harvest springing forth from the branches of our life by being grafted into the right vine.

Yield to God, and He will do wonders with your life ~

His work will be evident in the fruit being produced in your life ~

He guarantees His work.

He Who calls you is faithful, Who will also do it ~

The song of the birds for mirth,

One is nearer God’s heart in a garden

Than anywhere else on earth.’

~ Dorothy Frances Gurney, “Garden Thoughts”
