The Purpose of The Holy Spirit ~

?’And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

~ Jesus, John 14:16-17

Before Jesus ascended, He made a promise to His disciples now turned apostles, that He would send The Comforter, known to those who have accepted Jesus Christ, as being the person of the Godhead, The Holy Spirit.

‘The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.’

~ 1 Corinthians 2:11

The Holy Spirit is both God, and a Person. He being the One, Who would continue God’s intended earthly mission until the Plan of God was fully accomplished by reaching the end of the days given for all the ages of mankind to come into its complete fullness, also known as being the time of the Harvest of Souls due to happen at the ‘End of the Age’ of mankind’s history.

The Holy Spirit remains all throughout this time on earth, seeing to it that God’s seed ‘pregnant with potential’ planted in us, has been given every opportunity to make it to full term in becoming realized if we allow for Him to guide us. The Holy Spirit is the Presence of Immanuel, ‘God with us’, living in and with His people. The Holy Spirit’s purpose being to quicken us (make us alive in Christ), in order to guide us, and rule-govern our lives as our Comforter and Counselor, until we reach our perfected or completed state, our full term maturity, made in the likeness of Christ.

Jesus Himself, being the Kingdom of Heaven Who walked this earth in our midst, now, having bodily ascended, is still present in us and with us, in the person of The Holy Spirit.

When we receive Jesus through faith, God’s seed-potential planted within every human soul, is activated in us, and now the seed being made alive by The Holy Spirit Who comes upon and dwells within every one of us who accepts Christ into our heart, mind, and spirit, will guide us into being fully realized of His God given potential, in the same way God used these divine approaches when creating the heavens and the earth.

God’s pattern was established once and for all, as evidence of His existence being clearly seen in viewing the universe from a God created perspective.

The Holy Spirit quickens us…Quickening is actually a pregnancy term that refers to the first feelings of life of the fetus in the mother’s womb during the second trimester. It’s the sign that the seed God planted in us in the first trimester, has processed into the soil of our heart, mind and soul-spirit, having been tilled and opened to God, and His Life is taking place inside the dark womb, the potential void, in us by His Holy Spirit.

~ Sydney Eddison, Horticulture magazine, 1993

‘As a gardener, I’m among those who believe that much of the evidence of God’s existence has been planted.’

? ~ Robert Brault

Jesus said, that unless a seed falls into the ground and dies (our old earthly seeds of reproducing after our kind, also known as the ways of our earthly fathers), there can be no new life that comes from it, (the ground becomes hardened and unable to receive new seed, God Seed). Jesus being that seed sower, scattering His seed to fall into the ground, it sprouts through His death, now new life springs up through the soil through His resurrection, and this seed is in every believer who has accepted Jesus for being Who He said He is, and the soil softens to receive what He gave to mankind, His life, His seed which reproduces after its own kind, God Seed. The seed’s growth is coming alive through The Holy Spirit’s quickening, the evidence of life taking place in a believer’s newly found life in Christ.

The sign of life is taking place and growing within the believer. God’s Seed is growing, and His Spirit trains our vine to grow upon a structure, training our vine to grow straight and produce the most abundant fruits to be enjoyed by God with us.

The Holy Spirit is a person, and He has a most important purpose in our lives. It is important for us to understand this because it makes all the difference in how we live for God in all honesty. When we try to live as God’s sprouted seed, now a growing vine, by our own efforts to control our vine and not letting The Gardener of our souls do the tending, we become an unruly or a wild vine, that grows its tentacles, tendrils all over the place. We become a wild ‘child’, unable to be trained. We are being unteachable, untrainable, by not allowing God to work through our lives…His purpose in building the soil to grow His seeds to become realized as His seeds continue to reproduce life over and over again; for God is known to be A God of the Living…

‘In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there. To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe. I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels.’

~ Dodinsky

God is a Builder and a Planter. According to ancient Jewish wisdom given through Talmudic tradition passed down throughout the ages of mankind’s history, and unlike the contemporary view of Judaic traditions so often refered to in this modern day, God first fabricated (built) a potential universe (Genesis 1). At the end of this stage, nothing physical existed yet, only a void, that was pregnant with potential. The soil now prepared was ready for planting. And it says, that God then drew forth from powerful and potent emptiness the heavens and earth (the structure), all material existence (fruit realized). He planted His seeds of potential to grow (be realized) within this structure (soil) He built.

The reasons I find this wild child attitude happens with alot of people regarding our view of God, is from living this way for many years in my own life as a wild ‘seed’ and God graciously revealed this to me about myself, slowly but surely… I did not grow up having a right idea about God, and in time, what was revealed to me about my ideas of God, was that the structure that my life was built upon, was a an old, shaky and faulty one and could not possibly continue to support my vine, my life as I grew. Eventually coming to understand that a wild child becomes a wild adult.

‘How fair is a garden amid the trials and passions of existence.’ ?

~ Benjamin Disraeli

?The trials and tribulations of my life, have been the work of The Holy Spirit, Who loves me unconditionally, and will do whatever it takes to make my vine grow stronger to be able to reach its full potential, through the tying and training of my tendrils to a strong and supportive structure (trellis) which is strong enough to support the weight of the vine growing stronger branches, in Divine Order, to be able to produce the abundant fruits, God desires to harvest from my vine. This means pruning in moments, and I honestly have to say, I have most definitely been pruned in my life more than once, in fact, I have been through a process known to gardener’s as a hard pruning, a hard cutting back including a deep root pruning to remove diseased roots, in order to preserve the life of the plant so it will grow thicker and stronger branches, to be able to support the fruit it is bearing through the flushing process, all going on while the sound structure continues to support the once tender vine that has now grown thicker into strong branches. The wild vine and wild fruit is now producing an excellent harvest.

Are you seeing signs of the Holy Spirit working in your life?

What are the signs to look for?

Fruit. The fruit of The Holy Spirit.

?But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.?

~ Galatians 5:22

Note that the ‘S’ in Spirit is capitalized. This means that The Holy Spirit, is doing the fruit producing and bearing in our lives, it isn’t coming from our own doing. The Holy Spirit is doing the quickening in our now rooted in Christ seeds that have sprouted and are growing into a full grown plant from God’s Seed. It takes God to grow a God Seed. We are made in the likeness of God, however, we are not like or as God. And a not God, cannot make and produce God Seed. We make seeds after our own likeness, human seeds.

We really do and have forgotten this idea in all honesty.

The Holy Spirit is doing His gardening in us with the very intention through this process of growing us into full term, our completion, bearing mature ripened fruit. I love how God uses such practical and easy to understand ideas we can all relate to as children of all ages, teaching us His methods He uses for creating by giving us Nature to be able to view what we are learning while we are learning it!! So easy, even a child can understand it and I genuinely believe this was the original way God meant for us to be taught by pedagogy. Living by exampling, as Jesus came to show us how by doing this with us…

What kind of fruit are you serving to those whom you love and to strangers?

Have you ever tried your hand at gardening? Or even making something with your hands whether with wood, metal, glass, plastic? You know, just building something, creating ‘stuff’ with your very own hands, your heart fully into it, and the excitement you feel as you see it becoming fully realized, as in being fully finished? Now, what would you do if the object you are lovingly creating turned around and jumped off the table and ran away, while saying to you its Creator, ‘Who are You?! I’ll take it from here, I don’t need you any more…You’re not the Boss of me…’

Yet we tend to do this very thing with God. Well, I am speaking here as we who have faith that there is a personal God. This idea grew throughout the years of living here, that we really tend to base our ideas about God structured by the ideas impressed upon us from our most formative years and we grew our ideas along this structure.

We are born without prejudice, no matter what color our skin…our potential yet to be realized…

All of us bearing the realized evidence of which seeds were given the most ‘fertilizer’ to grow from the seeds of potential planted yet lying dormant, fully potent within to become fully realized in the proper time and season…

The fruit reveals the seed producing after its kind…

It takes an honest assessment, to be able to look straight into and face of the structure we have built our life upon, in viewing our life and seeing what kind of fruit we are producing. Are you satisfied with the yield of your harvest?

What kind of fruits are we producing as the evidence of the kind of seed that is growing within us? Are we producing and reproducing life giving seeds or seeds of destruction, that leads to the cessation of life bearing seeds?

Weed seeds or God seeds?

Jesus is speaking to us in this scripture;

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.”

?~ Matthew 7:16-20

?What are others able to recognize about us by the fruit we are bearing in our lives? Do they see you or me producing after our kind, or do they see God producing His fruits through you and me after His kind?

Man made?or God created?

The Holy Spirit is a person, the Comforter and Counselor of our life, if we are willing to be made alive by Him, by our willingness to listen to and follow His guidance, letting Him guide us to do His perfect work in us by giving Him the right of way to govern us by His supplying us with His structure while also tending to our tender shoots, lovingly training them and pruning them to grow to our most Highest potential being realized. And what is that?

To be filled with the fullness of God, as God originally intended.

“For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said:

??Today, if you will hear His voice,

Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.?

?~ Hebrews 3:14-15

?

May we be willing to allow the hard heartedness of our hearts towards our Creator, to be softened by being open to being tilled anew, in order to enjoy the relationship with God as the Tender of our garden, allowing His Seed planted in us, to be broken open by the watering of our shed tears, leading to the potential to create a changed heart, mind and soul in us into being tender hearted towards God and our fellow human family.

?Yielding to this process will allow His intended seed to sprout to life, being made alive by His Holy Spirit, who will continue to tend to our soul’s garden, assuring the production of a most excellent sweet tasting fruit brought to its ripe maturity in our lives. Our once tender shoots, now having grown into heavy laden branched vine, grafted into His Tree of Life. The more we yield to the hand of The Holy Spirit, the more abundant the harvest will produce, if we remain patient in the process, until we enter into His Kingdom in resurrected body, heart, mind and soul, fully Spirit filled.

I’m asking you, to really make some time in your day to day life, to find out what your own personal view and perspective of life is based upon, apart from what you’ve heard all your life by others. What structure is really the one holding up your perspective of life? Where did it come from, who was influential in guiding and counseling your building of your current perspective?

How is it working in allowing you to realize your God given potential?

Is it a manmade one or have you cleared your soul’s space in the soil of your heart to consider allowing God’s Seed, dormant seeds of potential planted in your soul to grow by letting Him in?

By making some honest and genuine effort to look into the kind of fruit we are producing in our life, willing to evaluate, discern the evidence of the type of soil and seeds we are growing, will determine the nature of our soul’s garden, and therefore we will be able to tell if our potential is being realized, by the evidence of God’s Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are the children of God…

Whose tending to your soul’s garden?

To an abundant harvest to spring forth from the branches of your life being grafted into the right vine.
